The below letter was written by one of our team members. He read this to the team during one of our sharing times. On the first day I always ask the team, “Why are you here?” It’s a question that I ask them to pray about and to seek God and see why He called them to Honduras to serve with this team. Usually, each person will have a different response to this question. I thought this letter provided some great insight into one person’s perspective of why he came on the trip.
So why am I here?
I was not originally called by God to go on this mission trip. My mother in law was going, and asked if my son could go with her. I thought and prayed about it and felt as if it was a good idea to try a mission trip out, as well as share the experience with mom and my son. It would be nice. I could use my construction skills to put a roof on a church and help less fortunate people.
I couldn’t have had it more wrong as to why I came on this trip.
