Making Missions Fun
District Children’s Missions Coordinator, Kay Swesey, leads the children at Southport in making missions fun as they learn, pray and give. Watch this YouTube video and be inspired with ideas on how to make learning about missions a fun experience as well as one that makes an impact.
Children’s Mission Awards
Children want to be involved in missions! Just give them the opportunities! District Children’s Missions Coordinator, Kay Swesey, has provided easy guides for helping them achieve awards! These awards will be presented at the district NMI convention to the kids and their leaders. It will be exciting!

2023 – 2024 Children’s Missions Certificate Award
A Certificate of Achievement will be presented to each church whose children
complete the basic level of achievement:
REQUIREMENTS
- Read or listen to missions stories in children’s church or Sunday School.
(recommend teachers use visuals, dramas or other fun methods with the story)- 2 or more children’s missionary reading books
- Memorize (2) mission related scriptures:
- “I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6 NIV
- “Then HE said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” — Matthew 9:37-38 NIV
2023 – 2024 Children’s Missions Star Award
This is the highest level of achievement presented at the Indianapolis District NMI Convention
A beautiful 13” trophy will be presented at the Indianapolis NMI District Convention to each church whose children complete the highest level of achievement:
REQUIREMENTS
- Read or listen to missions stories in children’s church or Sunday School.
(recommend teachers use visuals, dramas or other fun methods)- 2 or more children’s missionary reading books
- additional stories from other sources (Voice of the Maryrs, Alliance, CEF)
- Memorize (2) mission related scriptures: (same as basic level)
- Pray for mission fields and specific missionaries

See demonstration on district website indynmi.info- persecuted church (have available six different prayer cards for the eleven extremely persecuted countries)
- Nazarene missionaries (children’s prayer cards for Gonzalez family available)
- Nazarene ministries (Jesus Film; Bible Colleges, hospitals, etc) (prayer cards and lessons will be available in the future)
- Give mission offering:
- Wheels for Missions children’s project
- Hear a missionary speaker/view their display:
- at district assembly (a missionary could possibly meet separately with children)
- in a local church service
- in children’s church (most missionaries or the wife will come to children’s church 5-10 minutes before the morning worship service. They will sometimes bring interesting objects, etc for the children to see. Dan Duke has an outstanding children’s presentation)
Training sessions are planned to demonstrate fun teaching methods and how to easily prepare visuals, dramas, etc easily. Copies of mission prayers on a child’s level are available.
