There was no other social class that disturbed me more than the beggars; my heart broke for them. Some said they were an oppressed people; others viewed them as con-artists. It was hard to know which stories to believe.

The Westside team has been gone a couple of days now. It’s Friday and I’ve finally unburied myself from a week’s worth of emails and we’ve cleaned and packed up everything from the team, so I guess it’s time to write about Westside’s time here.
The team arrived with heavy hearts. One of our dear friends and a member of Westside, Tom Drake, passed away a couple of days prior to their leaving and many of them went to the viewing the night before they left. Tom was an extraordinary man who lived his life to the fullest, always exemplifying the characteristics of Christ. It’s difficult to say goodbye to someone like Tom, but we are excited that he’s now in a much better place.
I think most of you know that Westside (Indianapolis) is our home church, so to have our home church here serving with us was very special. When teams come, it’s like they are family and we quickly build friendships that last a long time, but with Westside, these friendships have already been built over many, many years and they are family.
