NCN News reported today there’s a new scam already active that specifically targets members of the Nazarene denomination and tugging on the heart strings of people with a heart for missions activity.
The scam goes something like this: A person will call, text, or send an email that states they are a Nazarene district superintendent or pastor from a foreign country. They will use the name of a real Nazarene leader in that country and say they have been delayed in a foreign country because of visa problems. They claim various regional leaders they have attempted to contact are unavailable or the offices are closed. They also claim that a pastor, district superintendent, or other leader has given him the name of pastors in the area that could help by wiring money through Western Union.
Spread the word among your church network and families and let people know to be aware of this scam and familiar with the premise being used. For more details, read the full story “Scam targets Nazarene churches, leaders” on the NCN website.
